About the Course
The Association of Professionals Specialising in Addiction Counselling (APSAC) is pleased to offer the Certified Substance Abuse Counsellor (CSAC) Training Course for social workers, counsellors, psychologists and other professionals working with clients facing substance and behavioural addiction problems.
The goal of this course is to increase participants’ knowledge and skills in the recognition, assessment, diagnosis and treatment of substance abuse and dependence.
This comprehensive course will equip participants with a strong theoretical and clinical base from which to deliver substance abuse treatment services.

Counsellor Certification
This course provides 40 hours of substance addiction-specific education. Upon the completion of this course, eligible participants can opt to sit for the Certified Substance Abuse Counsellor (CSAC) certification exam.
Details of Exam
Saturday, 23 August 2025
A fee of $430 ($30 for eligibility assessment and $400 for the exam) will apply.

By becoming certified as a Substance Abuse Counsellor, the counsellor demonstrates that he or she possesses knowledge and expertise in substance addiction counselling commensurate with the competency standards set forth by APSAC.
Continuing Education Units (CE Units)
All participants completing this course will receive 40 continuing education units from APSAC. A certificate of attendance will be presented upon completion of the course.
